Koppal, India – In a deeply disturbing incident that unfolded late Saturday night, an 18-year-old youth allegedly killed his 19-year-old sister before attacking his parents. The violent scenes played out in the village of Gangavathi within Koppal district.

According to eyewitnesses and the official complaint from the family's grandfather, the evening began like any other as the family retired to their respective rooms after dinner. However, around 9:30 pm, unexplained screams and the sound of loud banging echoed through the house's walls. Concerned about their son's well-being, the grandparents sought help and eventually broke into his room.

What they found was a scene of unimaginable horror. Their daughter-in-law lay dead with multiple injuries to her neck and head, while both parents suffered severe cuts. The grandson also showed signs of injury from what neighbors say was most likely his younger brother's wrath.

The Aftermath

The injured were quickly rushed to the Government Hospital in Gangavathi for treatment, where a few were later transferred to Ballari for critical care. In her distress, the victim's sister recounted to family members that she had allegedly witnessed her brother suddenly becoming enraged and attacking first his sister, then their parents before turning the knife against himself.

Following an immediate investigation, the Gangavathi Rural police registered cases under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities are scrutinizing various aspects, including possible motives such as a potential conflict due to online gaming habits.

The community has been plunged into sorrow and disbelief over this tragic event which underscores the need for increased mental health support systems, especially among young adults navigating digital world pressures in close-knit families.
