Heightened political tensions have emerged between the Jana Sena and the YSR Congress (YSRC) following a series of recent developments in Kakinada. The friction between these rival parties escalated after Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan visited the region, shortly followed by a Kapu community meeting organized by the YSRC in Venkatayapalem village, located in the Ramachandrapuram mandal.

During his visit, Pawan Kalyan reportedly signaled his dissatisfaction with the perceived lack of robust responses from coalition MLAs, MPs, and ministers toward criticism originating from the opposition. Shortly thereafter, Kakinada Rural MLA Pantham Venkateswara Rao, also known as Nanaji, issued sharp remarks directed at YSRC leadership, further inflaming the situation.

Rising Political Tensions and Rhetoric

The war of words continued as various Jana Sena officials, including district president Tummala Ramaswamy, Super Bazaar chairman Pesangi Adinarayana, and local leaders Kadali Eswari and Nandamuri Vinod, publicly criticized YSRC leaders for their aggressive stance against Nanaji. A primary point of contention was a statement by YSRC MLC Thota Trimurthulu, who suggested he might contest as an independent against Nanaji in the Kakinada Rural constituency. Tummala Ramaswamy characterized this remark as an affront to former minister and former Kakinada Rural MLA Kurasala Kannababu, arguing that the YSRC was prioritizing negative political discourse over the state’s development needs.

Defending the actions of his colleague, Pesangi Adinarayana claimed that Nanaji has been instrumental in fostering unity within the Kapu community regardless of political affiliations. He further asserted that Pawan Kalyan is deeply committed to social harmony and advancing the growth of the state.

Conversely, the YSRC has countered these accusations. Jakkampudi Raja, former Rajanagaram MLA and the YSRC youth wing president, criticized the current alliance government for its alleged failure to deliver on pre-election promises. He contended that Jana Sena members resort to personal attacks whenever they are questioned regarding the implementation of their electoral assurances. Jakkampudi Raja also insisted that Nanaji lacked any substantive basis to critique the former chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, maintaining that the previous YSRC administration had successfully met its commitments during its five-year tenure despite facing significant hurdles. This ongoing exchange of allegations clearly demonstrates the enduring and intense political rivalry between the two factions in the region.
