In a significant move aimed at curbing corruption among high-ranking government officials, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched widespread operations targeting Narahari, the Director of Multi-Zone II. These intensive searches are being conducted across a dozen properties linked to the official, following a barrage of complaints regarding his professional conduct and financial activities.
The Telangana ACB raids are currently focused on several locations, including the director's private residence and various other sites, such as the area near Chatrinaka in Old City. Officials indicated that these search operations, which commenced as part of a probe into a disproportionate assets (DA) case, were comprehensive and were expected to continue throughout the day.
Expanding Crackdown on Disproportionate Assets
This latest enforcement action marks a continued trend of accountability measures being undertaken by the state's anti-graft agency. The Telangana ACB has been actively pursuing cases against officials suspected of accumulating wealth beyond their known sources of income. The agency’s focus on the case involving Narahari underscores the commitment to maintaining integrity within the administrative hierarchy.
Only recently, the Anti-Corruption Bureau successfully concluded a high-profile investigation involving Mohan Naik Jarupla, who served as the Engineer-in-Chief for Roads and Buildings. In that instance, investigators uncovered an illicit fortune estimated at approximately Rs. 17.94 crore, which had been amassed through corrupt practices and irregular means during his tenure. Following the discovery of these substantial assets, Mohan Naik Jarupla was taken into custody and is presently held in judicial remand.
The systematic approach currently being employed by the Telangana ACB reflects a broader initiative to tackle systemic issues of financial malpractice in government departments. By targeting high-ranking officials through these Telangana ACB raids, the agency aims to deter public servants from engaging in the acquisition of disproportionate assets. The findings from the ongoing search at Narahari’s properties are expected to provide further evidence as the bureau continues to build its case against corruption in public office.
