In a bold move, K. T. Rama Rao, the BRS working president, reminded the ruling Congress of its unfulfilled poll promises. During a gathering in Hyderabad, Rama Rao recalled both Rahul Gandhi and A. Revanth Reddy's pledges to various communities and demanded accountability.
Calling out Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directly, Rama Rao posed a challenge: "Declare now that you will not contest the next Assembly polls if your promises are not met." He specifically targeted auto drivers, who have allegedly committed suicide in greater numbers since Congress took office. Rama Rao questioned Rahul Gandhi's silence regarding the promised welfare board and annual subsidies of ₹12,000 to each driver. Emphasizing that over 30 months have passed without fulfillment, he urged for an explanation: "What happened to the promises you made in 2023?"
Auto Drivers' Promises Unfulfilled
The former minister highlighted the plight of auto drivers. He stated that more than 100 have committed suicide due to non-fulfillment of their promised benefits from the welfare board and annual subsidies. Rama Rao's critique extended to other issues such as delays in providing units through the Indiramma housing project in Secunderabad Cantonment.
He further criticized the administration for focusing on mere 'ribbon cuttings' instead of implementing projects effectively, indicating that political credit is often claimed without actual benefits reaching the people. This rebuke comes at a time when expectations are high for governance delivery from all parties involved in Telangana's politics.
"The entire administration's effort seems to be just a facade," Rama Rao asserted, challenging both the ruling class and opposition on their commitments. His message seeks clarity and accountability on the promises that were made during election campaigns.
