Kalaburagi, India - In a significant personnel move, Congress leader Priyank Kharge has been entrusted with the pivotal Home portfolio while continuing to oversee Information Technology and Biotechnology. This decision by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for the newly reorganized Karnataka Cabinet marks a personal milestone for Priyank, the son of former Congress President Mallikarjun Khargre, who previously held the same prestigious position. With this new assignment, Priyank steps into the footsteps of his father, further cementing the Kharge legacy in Indian politics.

According to the official notification, Priyank Kharge will now handle Home (excluding Intelligence), IT-BT and E-Governance functions. In a related development, UT Khader has been assigned the Health and Family Welfare portfolio, while Eshwar Khandre, former Forest, Ecology & Environment minister, takes charge of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.

MB Patil retains duties in Large and Medium Industries as well as Infrastructure Development. Sathish Jarkiholi and Dr Sharan Prakash Patil have been re-assigned to Public Works and Medical Education and Skill Development portfolios respectively. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will hold Finance, Cabinet Affairs, DPAR, Intelligence and other unallocated roles, while Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has been given the Revenue and Sports portfolios.

Among other key appointments, KH Muniyappa retains Food and Civil Supplies, while KJ George continues with Energy oversight and additionally receives Tourism duties. Ramalinga Reddy is appointed for Major and Medium Irrigation responsibilities, Krishna Byregowda looks after Greater Bengaluru Development, Yathindra Siddaramaiah oversees Urban Development, and Byrathi Suresh handles Transport.
