Devastating news hit the political landscape as K A S Mahendran, a 32-year-old Joint Secretary of the AIADMK Thanjavur East Traders Wing, tragically took his own life following an emotional appeal for party unity. Identified by authorities in Thiruppanandal, Thanjavur district, Mahendran was deeply grieved over the party's successive electoral defeats. His last words, recorded in a self-filmed video and posted online, resonated with a passionate plea to unite under AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS).

'K A S Mahendran' mourned the party's recent political slump and implored leaders from various factions to overcome their differences, emphasizing the importance of a united front. The video message circulated widely on social media platforms, garnering immediate attention.

Tragically, Unity Felt Unreachable

Mahendran's appeal fell on sorrowful ears as he tragically chose suicide to make his point—a drastic action after the party experienced a series of losses. Upon receiving information, local authorities recovered Mahendran's body and conducted a post-mortem examination at the Government Hospital in Thiruppanandal. Meanwhile, an official case registry is underway, with further investigations being initiated.
