Legal proceedings regarding the Twisha Sharma death case continue to unfold, as a court has officially extended the judicial custody of the primary suspects. The judicial custody of the husband and mother-in-law of 33-year-old model Twisha Sharma, who tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Bhopal on May 12, has been prolonged by an additional 14 days.
The individuals currently in custody are Giribala Singh, a retired judge, and her son, Samarth. Both are facing allegations related to the dowry harassment of the deceased. On Tuesday, they were presented virtually before the court of special judge Shobhana Bhalave, following the conclusion of their previous remand period. The court ultimately approved a request from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to extend their detention until June 30.
Developments in the Twisha Sharma Death Case
The CBI has officially assumed responsibility for investigating the death of Twisha Sharma. The young model was discovered hanging at her marital home shortly after returning from a beauty parlor on the day of the incident. While security footage from the parlor captured her appearing calm while receiving a head massage, subsequent events took a drastic turn.
According to statements provided by the family of the deceased during the filing of the First Information Report (FIR) on May 15, Twisha Sharma had been in contact with her mother at 9:41 PM on the evening of the tragedy. During this final call, family members reported hearing shouting from her husband shortly before the connection was severed. When relatives attempted to reach her again, Giribala Singh reportedly answered the phone and informed Twisha’s sister-in-law that she was no longer alive, subsequently ending the call.
Medical examinations have provided further complexity to the ongoing investigation. The initial postmortem report attributed the death to antemortem hanging by ligature and noted the presence of multiple physical injuries on her body. Authorities are currently awaiting the findings of a second postmortem report, which has yet to be released for public scrutiny. The extension of judicial custody marks another significant step in the legal process as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this sensitive case proceeds under federal oversight.
