KOLKATA -- Four-time Barasat MP of Trinamul Congress, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, has resigned from all her party posts, triggering a wave of reactions within the opposition camp. This decision came after she flagged multiple internal issues to TMC leadership, including reported misconduct and financial irregularities.

In an internal letter addressed to Subrata Bakshi, state president of Trinamul Congress, Ghosh Dastidar highlighted serious concerns regarding 'uneducated' MPs and political consultants from I-PAC. She stated, "There is no point staying in a post when an uneducated and rude MP's indecent behavior cannot be controlled or does not generate any cooperation." Ghosh Dastidar also drew attention to the lack of administrative and financial transparency cited as 'the ration scam' and 'teacher's recruitment scam.'

Allegations of Cover-Up and Policy Clash

Ghosh Dastidar also mentioned a 'possible cover-up' in a case involving the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, which has "stunned and pained" her deeply. Additionally, she expressed unease over allegations against I-PAC as part of a policy clash that prompted her resignation from key party positions such as TMC's women's wing chief.

Her resignation comes close on the heels of two other TMC councillors' departures: Sushanta Ghosh and Arup Chakraborty, who quit their posts in Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Their resignations followed a pattern seen among colleagues, with TMC councillor Deblina Biswas earlier resigning her position as 9 Borough Chairperson.

Ghosh Dastidar stated that while she would not leave the TMC entirely, she would remain 'merely' a party worker. The events unfold amid growing tensions within the ruling camp over corruption allegations and internal discord.
