Vijayawada: YSR Congress state spokesperson Karumuri Venkata Reddy alleged on Sunday that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is repeatedly shielding Telugu Desam individuals, allowing them to evade scrutiny and return after facing legal issues.
Addressing a press conference at the YSRC central office in Tadepalli, Karumuri cited the case of Jayachandra Reddy, who was accused in the Molakalacheruvu fake liquor case. According to reports, instead of being arrested, Jayachandra Reddy has been allowed to leave for Africa where he remained for nearly eight months before obtaining anticipatory bail and returning to Bengaluru.
Naidu's Alleged Pattern of Defection
Reddy alleged that statements from key accused and witnesses pointed towards Jayachandra Reddy's involvement, yet no action has been taken against the TD leader. He further stated that the leader's rank in the liquor case had been reduced from A1 to A17, suggesting a lenient approach by governing authorities.
The YSRC leader also highlighted that the fake liquor network operates from Molakalacheruvu and has generated illegal profits of nearly ₹5,250 crore within a year. He posed questions regarding how such an operation could run smoothly without political endorsement.
He drew parallels with the Skill Development case, accusing the Chief Minister of earlier aiding former aide Pendyala Srinivas to leave for the United States when he faced legal notices. Karumuri further claimed that the government is targeting YSRC leaders while protecting TD functionaries and accused the ruling coalition of attempting to deflect criticism of its "Two Years of Backstabbing" campaign.
