Hyderabad: The Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanathnagar, a government hospital until now, is preparing to shake things up. In what marks a significant shift, the institution will now introduce both paid services and acceptance of all types of health insurance starting June 11.

TIMS Sanathnagar's New Model: Paid Services and Insurances

These new measures are part of a broader initiative to bring private sector efficiencies into the public healthcare system. TIMS has applied for accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, indicating a move towards standardization and quality assurance.

The facility will initially offer 70 percent of its beds free through government schemes like Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The remaining portion, approximately 30 percent, is reserved for paid services and patients covered by private insurance policies. This step aims to diversify funding streams beyond traditional government allocation.

Under this model, it's anticipated that a senior official added, "We are seeing an average of about 100 daily visitors since we started trial operations," pointing towards potential growth when the hospital officially opens its doors.

The inauguration ceremony, hosted by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on June 11, will likely introduce specific insurance policies that patients can explore as options for their care. The hospital has been meticulously designed with a total capacity of 1,000 beds, including a robust 300-bed emergency department.

Further specialisation is evident in its offering of 29 cutting-edge super-speciality departments such as cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, and nephrology. Additionally, the facility features eight VIP suites for international patients, highlighting its commitment to both local and global health needs.
