In a significant administrative action regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, three Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been suspended for dereliction of duty. The officials were tasked with essential duties in the Guntur West Assembly constituency but faced disciplinary measures after failing to retrieve their mandatory duty allocation orders.
Strict Action for Administrative Negligence
The suspension process was initiated under the direct supervision of the Guntur Municipal Corporation commissioner and electoral registration officer, K. Mayur Ashok. To implement these directives, Guntur West electoral registration officer G. Sambasiva Rao formally issued the suspension orders against the three identified officials: P. Sai Srikanth, P. Durga Prasad, and B. Mahesh Babu.
The administrative leadership expressed firm dissatisfaction regarding the officials’ non-compliance. Their inability to assume the responsibilities assigned to them hindered the Special Intensive Revision program, which is strictly governed by the regulations set forth by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Maintaining the integrity of these procedures is critical for accurate voter registration.
Voter Roll Revision Progress and Procedures
The Special Intensive Revision exercise is currently being executed throughout the Guntur Municipal Corporation jurisdiction, scheduled to span from June 15 through July 14. This large-scale initiative relies on a comprehensive, door-to-door survey methodology designed to compile an error-free and updated electoral roll. Officials are actively distributing enumeration forms to every household, ensuring that the collected data is subsequently processed through a digital online system.
Authorities have requested continued cooperation from both the general public and political parties to ensure the initiative's success. Regarding the progress of the Special Intensive Revision, official data indicates that in the Guntur East constituency, 60,332 forms have been distributed out of an electorate totaling 2,52,062, achieving a coverage rate of 23.94 percent. Of these, 346 forms have already undergone digitization.
Meanwhile, within the Guntur West constituency, 52,609 forms have been allocated among 2,78,555 eligible voters, representing 18.89 percent coverage. Currently, 393 of these forms have been successfully digitized. The commission has issued a stern appeal to all residents to thoroughly verify their personal details, accurately complete the required documentation, and submit them promptly to their assigned Booth Level Officers. This diligence is essential to facilitate the creation of a precise and transparent electoral record for the region.
