MUMBAI – A tragic incident unfolded during the 'Klangkuenstler Outworld' music event at NSCI Dome on Saturday night. During an all-night techno show featuring Berlin-based DJ Klangkuenstler, a 28-year-old man named Rishabh Gangurde fainted and later died while undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital. Gangurde had complained of severe health complications, leading to his immediate hospitalization following the concert. His female friend was also hospitalized for medical care but is currently in stable condition.
The police have not ruled out a drug angle yet; however, no significant evidence has been found so far. The investigation into Gangurde's death continues as authorities scrutinize CCTV footage from the venue and its surroundings. Eight individuals, including event organizers, are being questioned by the police. The event, despite ending on time with tickets costing Rs 4,000 each, has now come under close scrutiny over safety measures.
NSCI Dome Incident: A Broader Concern
This tragic incident echoes a similar accident that occurred in April where two management students reportedly died due to drug overdose after a music concert. Such tragedies have raised concerns about the adequacy of safety protocols, crowd management, and medical assistance provided at large entertainment venues like NSCI Dome. The organizers' bank accounts are currently under examination for signs of illegal black marketing of tickets, which has fueled further questions regarding event transparency and regulation in Mumbai. Authorities are urging a thorough review of the licenses to serve alcohol and other permits as part of this investigation.
