PM Kisan Yojana Update: Next Installment on Horizon
With PM Kisan Yojana's 23rd installment pending and new registration requirements set for certain states starting 2026, farmers are advised to prepare in advance. The 14-state requirement for a farmer ID emphasizes the importance of timely registration under PM-KISAN.

Highlights
- •- Farmer IDs mandated from 2026
- •- Installment due late July or early August 2025
- •- Physical verification delays benefits
- •- Registration crucial for new farmers in affected states
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) has seen 22 installments to date, with the most recent one being disbursed on March 13th in Assam.
As farmers eagerly await the 23rd installment, there are important updates regarding registration and eligibility. Starting from 2026, 14 states will require new registrations under PM-KISAN to have a farmer ID for benefits. These states include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Farmer ID Mandatory from 2026
For farmers residing in these states, creating a farmer ID is now necessary for new registrations. Farmers who acquired land after February 1, 2019, or those sharing benefits among multiple family members may see delayed payments until physical verification is completed. This means that installments will only be released once the verification process is finished.
Despite these updates, farmers can still look forward to receiving their next installment. The 23rd PM Kisan Yojana installment is expected around late July or early August this year, following the pattern of previous installments at the start of the last financial year on August 2, 2025.
The government encourages farmers to start the verification process in advance. This will ensure that they receive their benefits without delay when the next installment is due.
