Mustard Oil Prices Decline by Rs. 7 for Ration Card Holders in Himachal Pradesh

Highlights

  • Mustard Oil Prices: Down by Rs 7 per liter from last month's rate of Rs 160 to a more accessible price this month at Rs 153.
  • Refined Oil Availability: Previously unavailable for seven months, refined oil will now be priced at Rs 135 per liter, up from the previous cost of Rs 125.
  • Flour Supply: APL families receive 12 kg of flour every month but only for Rs. 12, a slight increase over last month's 11kg supply.
  • Rice Distribution: 6 kg per family at Rs 13, ongoing support under the state's fair price shop initiative.

Himachal Pradesh's ration card holders rejoice as mustard oil prices have dropped by Rs. 7 this month, marking a respite from the previous period's cost pressures. This positive development aligns with ongoing efforts to provide subsidized commodities at fair price shops under the state's food distribution program.

Rajeshwar Goyal, Managing Director of the Food Supply Corporation, commented on the recent trends: 'Mustard oil prices have seen a decrease this month,' emphasizing the significant reduction in costs for eligible households. As part of these modifications, 19-lakh ration card holders will continue to benefit from affordable rations at fair price shops.

The latest update also brings good news regarding refined oil availability. In response to an earlier tender process, the government has secured a supply order with local producers this month. Following a seven-month gap, consumers can now access refined oil, which is priced at Rs. 135 per liter—an increase of Rs. 10 from its previous rate.

The state's food distribution program also includes provisions for specific family categories such as APL (Above Poverty Line) families, who will receive 12 kg of flour for just Rs. 12 this month compared to the previous 11 kg supply. Additionally, 6 kg of rice at Rs. 13 per kg continues to be provided to each beneficiary family under these conditions.
