A significant deadline is approaching for all LPG subsidy beneficiaries across India. The government has mandated that all consumers must complete their electronic KYC (eKYC) process by June 30, 2026. Those without completed eKYCs will face a disruption in their subsidy payments starting July 1. This move is part of the government's broader efforts to prevent fraud and ensure accurate subsidies.

Understanding eKYC and Its Importance

The primary purpose behind this initiative is to verify the identity of LPG gas consumers through electronic means, thus reducing instances of fake or unauthorized connections. For Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries as well as regular domestic users, it's crucial that their eKYC remains up-to-date.

LPG subsidy payments to those whose accounts are not linked with Aadhaar numbers will cease from July 1. This underscores the importance of timely compliance for all beneficiary households.

Completing eKYC Through Mobile Apps

To complete your eKYC, access your preferred gas service app such as IndianOil One or HP Pay. Log in to the application and click on 'Re-KYC'. Then, use your phone's camera to perform a facial scan. The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) will verify your authentication almost instantly, eliminating any need for additional paperwork.

Alternatively, you can utilize the UMANG App. Navigate to the 'Gas Services' section and select 'eKYC'. Follow the simple steps on screen using your mobile number and MPIN. If online options pose challenges, visit a local gas distributor where an employee will assist in completing your eKYC through fingerprint scanning.

Remember, your Aadhaar card, gas connection passbook, and mobile phone are essential for these processes at any local service center.
