A 40-year-old man from the Khammam district was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment on Wednesday for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl. The conviction, based on scientific evidence and witness statements, marks a significant victory against child abuse in Southern India.
Boinapally Veera Babu Babu, the accused, was apprehended by Khammam Rural Police after the alleged assault took place on May 28, 2023. The First Additional District and Sessions Judge B. Srinivas Rao found him guilty during a detailed trial process. In addition to imprisonment, Babu was fined Rs. 50,000.
