Mumbai: The ruling Mahayuti alliance has announced its intention to jointly contest the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) election, aiming to secure all 17 available seats. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently addressed concerns regarding internal differences within the alliance by affirming their unity and strong working relationship aimed at accelerating regional development.

Joint Contest for Legislative Council Seats

The coalition, led by Devendra Fadnavis as Chief Minister, has expressed optimism about the prospects of victory in these crucial elections. Shinde stated during an official press conference that seat-sharing negotiations would be completed amicably and highlighted the alliance's readiness to resolve outstanding issues.

Referring to the ongoing candidature process, Fadnavis informed reporters that all pending matters will be addressed before the June 1 deadline for nominations. He mentioned that Nashik or Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar could be sought by his party if Pune remains contested by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Maharashtra's development is central to Mahayuti's agenda, with Shinde emphasizing: 'The Mahayuti alliance is strong. We are working together to accelerate Maharashtra's development.'

As negotiations continue, some parties have stated their aspirations for certain constituencies. For instance, Ms. Pawar highlighted her party's desire for seats where they hold a majority.

Negotiations and Contention

'The ongoing talks are positive,' Ms. Pawar added. The alliance is currently focused on resolving differences over only two seats to ensure seamless integration of all parties into the legislative process before June 1, the last day for nominations.
