In a significant administrative shift within Telangana, the state government has officially appointed K.S. Sreenivasa Raju as the new chairperson of the Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TG-RERA). This strategic transition follows a comprehensive reshuffling of key roles within the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), orchestrated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The appointment of the TG-RERA Chairperson is viewed as a vital step in streamlining regulatory oversight within the state's expanding real estate sector.
K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, a retired IAS officer, had previously been serving as the principal secretary in the CMO since his appointment on April 30, 2025. Although his term was initially scheduled to continue until April 30, 2027, the government decided to reallocate his responsibilities after he had served just over a year in the position. This move is part of the ongoing efforts by the state administration to optimize leadership across critical governmental departments.
Impact of Administrative Reshuffling on TG-RERA
The appointment of a new TG-RERA Chairperson is concurrent with broader structural changes across the state’s governance framework. Just a day prior to this announcement, the government executed a major reshuffle involving high-level IAS officers. Senior official N. Sridhar has been named as the new principal secretary in the CMO, signaling a shift in administrative priorities. Furthermore, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has been designated as an Ex-officio special secretary in the CMO and will continue to serve as an advisor to the Chief Minister following his upcoming retirement on June 30.
The administrative reorganisation has also affected other key roles. B. Ajith Reddy, who was serving as Special Secretary, has been transitioned to the position of CEO of Invest Telangana, the state’s primary agency for investment promotion under the Industries and Commerce Department. In addition to these duties, B. Ajith Reddy has been granted Full Additional Charge as the Additional Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL).
The leadership changes are not limited to high-level secretarial positions but extend specifically to the oversight body for the real estate market. Alongside the appointment of the new TG-RERA Chairperson, retired IRS officer Vemula Sreekar has been brought on board as the Technical and Administrative Member of the authority. Furthermore, the authority’s administrative team has been bolstered by the naming of former GHMC chief city planner K. Srinivas as the secretary of TG-RERA. These collective appointments reflect the government's focus on enhancing the functionality and efficacy of regulatory bodies within Telangana as the region continues to experience significant urban development.
