Chennai, India – Tamil Nadu Minister Aadhav Arjuna claims a political conspiracy between the DMK and AIADMK led to the defection of several key figures from the AIADMK into Tamil Nadu's new party, TVK, under leadership of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Speaking at a recent party meeting in Chennai on Thursday, Arjuna emphasized that nearly 90 percent of the AIADMK cadre now considers joining TVK to tackle 'monarchical and corrupt politics'.
Conspiracy Allegations
Aadhav Arjuna attributes these defections to the AIADMK leadership's decisions following Jayalalithaa's death, which, he says, went against the welfare of party cadres, resulting in 14 consecutive electoral defeats. He asserts that leaders like Vellamandi N Natarajann and others joined TVK under a genuine belief in honesty and public support.
'After Madam's demise, decisions by AIADMK leadership went against the interests of its cadres,' Arjuna said, referring to Jayalalithaa. 'They have now moved to TVK to fulfill their public mandate.'
The minister accused a hidden agreement between DMK leader Stalin and AIADMK's Palaniswami for administrative control. He alleged that secret negotiations aimed at sharing power and corrupt revenues occurred, with signatures collected from 47 MLAs during recent meetings in Puducherry.
Aadhav Arjuna added that the defection of political allies like Congress, CPI(M), VCK, and IUML to TVK was a result of these perceived betrayals. 'These leaders stand where honesty and public support reside,' he emphasized.
Political Shifts
The minister pointed out that the AIADMK had lost credibility due to its practices under the former regime. He highlighted TVK's commitment to transparency, stating that CM Vijay has eradicated institutionalized corruption. 'Today, there is absolute transparency in CMDA approvals, land registrations, and public works,' Arjuna claimed.
Aadhav Arjuna further indicated special induction meetings each weekend, welcoming new cadres from other political parties to the TVK family. These meetings are expected to solidify the party's stance against corruption and support its mission of pro-people welfare.
