CM Revanth Reddy Advocates for Advanced Technology in Telangana Agriculture Sector

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasized the urgent need to integrate advanced technology in agriculture across Telangana. During a high-level review session, he advocated for the expanded application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to streamline farming operations, from initial seed sowing to final crop procurement. By leveraging these modern tools, the state aims to boost efficiency and support the farming community more effectively.

The state government has designated the Agriculture University as the primary nodal agency responsible for spearheading this technological transformation. This move is designed to foster seamless cooperation between the Agriculture Department, the Civil Supplies wing, and the academic institution, ensuring a synchronized approach to addressing agricultural challenges and minimizing operational losses, particularly within the Markfed and Oilfed systems.

Modernizing Farming through Technological Adoption

A significant focus of this initiative is the provision of seven distinct varieties of fine grain seeds, which will now be available at subsidized rates to encourage higher productivity. These essential supplies will be distributed through Rythu Vedikas, making them easily accessible to farmers. To further streamline the supply chain, the government plans to implement a dedicated mobile application for fertilizer availability. Through this digital platform, farmers can conveniently book urea, which will then be supplied directly through Rythu Vedikas under the supervision of the District Additional Collector.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of data-driven decision-making, instructing officials to maintain comprehensive records of farmers cultivating fine grains to better estimate total yield. A pilot project for this data-collection and monitoring initiative is set to commence in Dammapeta mandal, located in Bhadradri Kothagudem. This structured approach aims to provide the administration with a clearer understanding of local agricultural output.

Furthermore, the state is taking a firm stance regarding fertilizer supply, with plans to consistently communicate with the central government to ensure adequate allocations for Telangana. Specifically, there is a push to prioritize the distribution of fertilizers manufactured at the Ramagundam fertilizer factory within the state itself. To amplify this demand, the government intends to convene a meeting of Members of Parliament (MPs) from all political parties. This collective effort is aimed at articulating the state's specific requirements and addressing concerns regarding fertilizer shortages effectively.

By digitizing distribution channels and fostering closer coordination between research institutions and administrative bodies, the state government aims to build a more resilient and tech-enabled agricultural framework. This strategic shift reflects a broader vision of empowering farmers with accessible tools and resources, ultimately driving growth in the state's vital agricultural sector.
