The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, officially greenlit over 80 significant policy decisions during its recent meeting. These strategic moves are designed to drive state-wide development across key sectors, including industrial growth, tourism, information technology, and renewable energy infrastructure. The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet decisions aim to bolster the state's economic landscape and streamline administrative processes.
A primary focus of these new directives involves major industrial expansion, with projects worth an estimated Rs 34,000 crore having been cleared by the Investments Promotion Council. This move is expected to create approximately 35,000 job opportunities, significantly impacting the local workforce. Additionally, the government has sanctioned infrastructure development projects valued at Rs 426 crore, alongside a separate allocation of Rs 139 crore dedicated to the establishment of the AP Judicial Academy.
Strategic Growth and Infrastructure Initiatives
The state government is also prioritizing tourism and hospitality to enhance the region's profile. As part of the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet mandate, new incentives have been introduced to encourage the development of five-star hotels and large-scale convention centres in Amaravati. Furthermore, tourism-related initiatives are set to be rolled out across key destinations including Visakha, Kurnool, Annavaram, and Tirupati.
Significant administrative changes were also approved to support long-term institutional stability. Notably, the retirement age for employees working in public sector units, government-run corporations, and various societies has been increased from 60 to 62 years. These updates are intended to retain experienced personnel and provide greater job security within the state's public institutions.
In the energy sector, the government has moved to secure land for solar and wind power projects in the Anantapur and Kadapa districts. These energy-focused policies are complemented by new incentives specifically designed for biogas plants, reinforcing the state's commitment to sustainable development. Finally, the cabinet authorized the creation of approximately 95 temporary positions, including roles for tahsildars and deputy collectors. These officials will be tasked with overseeing critical land pooling operations for the Amaravati-I and Amaravati-II development projects, ensuring the smooth implementation of land-related administrative tasks.
