Census-2027 Data Collection to Boost Village and Town Development

Highlights

  • Village and town development driven by comprehensive data collection
  • Data on over 380 parameters for villages and towns between July and August
  • Detailed records on key amenities like education, healthcare, and infrastructure
  • Gram panchayat secretaries and municipal officials involved in the collection

Starting July, the Census-2027 authorities in Andhra Pradesh have initiated a comprehensive data collection drive. Across 380 parameters across villages and municipal bodies, essential amenities such as educational facilities (25 parameters), medical and health infrastructure (24 parameters), water supply (27 parameters) and electricity (three parameters) will be meticulously documented.

Expanding the Scope of Data Collection

The meticulous approach includes detailed records on land utilization (18 parameters) and agricultural activities. For towns, over 420 parameters are to compile, covering aspects like growth history, civic amenities, educational facilities, social services, and industrial infrastructure.

Gram panchayat secretaries and municipal officials will play a pivotal role in the collection process for their respective jurisdictions. This groundwork lays the foundation for a more comprehensive population census set for February 2027, aiming to improve data accuracy through pre-test operations.

Near-term goals include rectifying errors discovered during the House Listing and Housing Census phase of the broader Census-2027 exercise. With these detailed parameters, local communities will have better benchmarks for future policy-making by both state and central governments.
