Tirumala Sees Unprecedented Pilgrim Rush
Tirumala's pilgrimage season reached unprecedented heights with a relentless influx of devotees. The temple faced significant operational pressure as queues stretched for over two days despite heavy occupancy rates.

Highlights
- •Devotee wait times reached 24-30 hours
- •Queue compartments filled to capacity
- •Temple officials deployed additional staff for management and service
- •97,561 devotees had darshan on a busy Saturday
Tirupati, the spiritual hub of South India, witnessed an unyielding surge in pilgrim arrivals on a recent Sunday. The queue for darshan at Lord Venkateswara Swamy continued to stretch well into 24-30 hours for numerous devotees. TTD officials informed that queue compartments faced capacity constraints, and lines lingered beyond the Bata Gangamma temple area towards the outer ring road.
Despite the formidable weather conditions under humid skies, large numbers of women, children, and elderly followers braved the wait. A total of 97,561 devotees had darshan on Saturday, marking one of the busiest days in recent years. Additionally, 57,780 pilgrims opted for tonsures at Kalyanakatta, with hundi collections amounting to Rs 3.76 crore.
The continuous surge during summer vacation posed significant challenges to accommodation and queue management. All cottages, guest houses, and amenities complexes were fully occupied. However, officials stepped up their efforts by deploying Srivari Sevaks, vigilance staff, and extra personnel across key points to manage queues and ensure the distribution of drinking water, annaprasadam, and other essential services.
