The weather is expected to change dramatically this weekend, with a significant weather alert issued for April 7. The meteorological department has warned of light rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in both Delhi-NCR and across 20 states, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (UP), and Uttarakhand.

Weather Patterns in Delhi-NCR:

A change in weather was observed since Tuesday morning, with brief periods of rain providing relief from high temperatures. The skies have been overcast, accompanied by sporadic light showers. A drop in temperature has also been noted. However, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for today, warning of light rain coupled with thunderstorms and strong winds.

Storms Looming Over UP:

The last 48 to 72 hours have seen a shift in weather patterns in Uttar Pradesh, signaling the potential for storms. The IMD has predicted that districts such as Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Hapur, and Saharanpur may experience heavy rain mixed with strong storms.

Storm Alert for 20 States:

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for April 7 in more than 20 states. These include Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha. These regions are expected to experience heavy rainfall mixed with strong winds.

Possibility of Hailstorms:

The storm alert extends beyond rain; hailstorms may occur in some states. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a likelihood of hailstorms across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, J&K, Ladakh, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, and parts of UP.

Rain Warnings for Specific Areas:

The Kashmir Valley may witness light-to-moderate rainfall on April 7. In Bihar, scattered showers with the possibility of hailstorms are anticipated between April 7 and 8. Uttar Pradesh is also under alert due to heavy rainfall in the coming days. Rainfall is predicted for Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand from April 7 to 8 as well.
