  • ED raids at homes of CPM officials, including former Chief Minister Vijayan
  • Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioned selective inaction towards their opponents' leaders
  • CPM vowed to remain politically strong despite such attacks

Former Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, accused the BJP-led central government of targeting opposition leaders through the Enforcement Directorate (ED) during an eight-hour-long raid at his homes and rented property in Thiruvananthapuram. Speaking to journalists after the ED operations, Vijayan strongly questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's criticisms, particularly regarding his own non-involvement.

Addressing concerns raised by Gandhi, who frequently questioned why Vijayan's residence was not raided, Vijayan dismissed selective activism as 'a fool's paradise'. He alleged that while central agencies target opposition parties, the Congress seems to selectively oppose such actions, only objecting when raids are conducted against other parties. The CPM leader promised that his party would remain unwavering in its resistance and political fight.

Systematic Harassment: Vijayan's Accusations

Vijayan alleged systematic targeting by the BJP-led government against opposition parties and leaders through central agencies. He cited a growing resistance from the party cadres, showing determination to remain united in the face of such attacks. Notably, over 100 CPM workers gathered outside his residence during the raids, reflecting support for leadership.

Responding to questions on potential weakening of the CPM due to these actions, Vijayan confidently stated that their collective strength would not be diminished. 'Those who think they can silence us through such actions are living in a fool's paradise,' he emphasized.

The raid came amid the ongoing election season and amidst allegations of an understanding between Vijayan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Gandhi, according to statements made by Rahul Gandhi during recent campaigns.
