Andhra Pradesh Seeks Investment Alliances in Moscow
Andhra Pradesh's Minister Nara Lokesh is touring Russia to strengthen tech and mineral investment opportunities. His visit includes discussions with key organizations, aiming to establish a REE refining hub and magnet manufacturing facility in AP.

Vijayawada: Nara Lokesh, the Education and IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is currently touring Russia to seek global investment opportunities. On Sunday, his visit included a tour of Moscow's prominent Nuclear Energy Museum, one of Russia's largest science and technology centers. Spanning 25,000 square meters across seven floors, this museum showcases the evolution of nuclear science from early Soviet programs to modern technologies.
During his visit, Lokesh also engaged with representatives of the acclaimed Giredmet Institute, a leading Russian research organization focused on critical minerals and semiconductor materials. He highlighted Andhra Pradesh's mineral wealth in Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam regions, inviting the institute to study establishing an REE refining center there. Additionally, he proposed setting up a Neodymium Iron Boron magnet manufacturing facility in Nellore using Giredmet's advanced technologies to support India's growing electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors.
In another development, Lokesh had discussions with Mukesh Kumar, Director of RMM Pharma, aiming to turn Visakhapatnam into a major export hub for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Russian markets. The minister underscored AP's strategic deep-water ports, urging the company to expedite its pharmaceutical manufacturing facility there.
Focus on Strategic Collaborations
Lokesh's visit also involved addressing members of the diaspora at the Indian Embassy in Moscow where he said his purpose was building international partnerships that would generate employment and economic opportunities for Andhra Pradesh youth. Stressed the long-standing trust between India and Russia, and AP's aim to tap into India's global stature.
This visit is part of a broader strategy by Andhra Pradesh government to attract investments and accelerate development, underscoring its commitment to leveraging international collaborations for future growth. The significance lies in enhancing economic ties between two major economies while promoting diverse industries like technology and pharmaceuticals.
