For Aadhaar card holders, updating their address can now be easier than ever. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new feature that allows individuals to update their residential address using another family member's Aadhaar number, making the process hassle-free and efficient. If you don't have proof of address documents, here's how you can update your information seamlessly.
How Does It Work?
To modify your Aadhaar address without requiring a separate address proof, you first need to download the latest Aadhaar app. Once installed, log in with your details and follow these easy steps:
- Tap on Services at the bottom of the home screen.
- Select Address Update.
- Pick the Head of Family (HOF) Based Address Update option.
- Enter the Aadhaar number of the family member from whose details you want to update your address.
- Choose your relationship with that family member and upload proof, such as a marriage certificate or ration card.
- If you don't have any documents, download and complete UIDAI's Self-Declaration Form or any other relevant document required by the system.
- Pay the necessary fees and note down your SRN (Service Request Number).
To gain approval from the family member whose information you are using for this update, log in to the myAadhaar portal. Click on My Head of Family Requests tab. This will show your pending request. Ensure it is accepted by the family member within 30 days; otherwise, it will be cancelled. Once approved, keep an eye on its status; it usually takes a few days to reflect in your account.
