As the summer break concludes for the 2026-27 academic session, over 4.2 lakh students across the districts of Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Yadadri-Bhongir are preparing to return to their classrooms this Monday. Educational institutions in these regions have finalized their preparations to resume operations after a nearly two-month recess, ensuring that learning environments are ready to welcome pupils back.
Local authorities have confirmed that necessary maintenance, including essential repairs and the cleaning of government school premises, has been completed. Furthermore, logistical efforts have ensured that approximately 75 to 85 percent of the required textbooks have reached the respective school complexes, facilitating a smooth start to the academic year for students across the three districts.
Breakdown of Student Enrollment and School Infrastructure
The distribution of students across these districts highlights the extensive reach of the local educational system. In Nalgonda, a total of 1,98,990 students are enrolled across 2,017 schools, which includes a mix of 1,749 government and 369 private institutions. Meanwhile, Suryapet supports 1,24,234 students across 1,210 schools, including 256 private establishments. Finally, in Yadadri-Bhongir, 97,424 students are registered within 883 schools, with 157 being private institutions. While private schools have organized special initiatives to welcome their students, officials have noted that general attendance might be lower than usual on the first day due to the observance of Amavasya.
Addressing Enrollment and Primary Education Access
A significant focus for the district administration is the revitalization of primary education in areas where institutions previously faced closure. In Nalgonda specifically, approximately 315 government schools, the majority of which were primary-level, had stopped functioning. To address this, District Collector Badugu Chandrashekhar has formally launched the 'Badi-Baata' program to encourage re-enrollment in these villages.
The District Education Office has proactively directed teaching staff to inform local residents that classes will resume regardless of class size, emphasizing that even a minimum enrollment of three or four students is sufficient for the school to function. This effort is part of a broader commitment to ensuring that rural students maintain consistent access to primary schooling. By focusing on these grassroots initiatives, the administration aims to strengthen the foundational level of education in the region, ensuring that the return to school serves as a catalyst for renewed academic engagement across the districts.
