Hyderabad: This Sunday, the educational landscape of Telangana schools witnessed a significant shift as the state's school education department officially unveiled an academic calendar for the upcoming 2026-27 session. The calendar, which meticulously maps out 227 working days, outlines robust schedules designed to enhance the quality of education and prepare students thoroughly for board exams.
Strategic Scheduling for Class X
The Class X curriculum targets completion by January 10, 2027, followed by intensive revision periods leading up to the SSC Board examinations in March of that year. This approach ensures that students have ample time to revise and reinforce their knowledge before key assessments.
Classes I to IX, on the other hand, will finish their syllabus by February 28, 2027. Afterward, they will benefit from a dedicated preparation phase including revision, remedial teaching sessions, and SA-2 examination preparations throughout March and April.
The department has taken proactive steps to ensure academic success for younger students. Daily remedial classes during the post-lunch session until September are directed to cover one subject per day, addressing individual student needs more effectively. Additionally, a mandatory 5-minute session of yoga and meditation is scheduled before or immediately after the school assembly.
The academic calendar also accommodates regional events and customary celebrations that align with cultural significance in Telangana, including Dasara holidays from October 10 to 22, 2026; Christmas holidays for missionary schools from December 23 to 27, 2026; and Sankranti holidays observed between January 13 and 17, 2027. The summer vacation will commence on April 24, 2027, concluding on June 13, 2027.
