The Northern Railway has announced significant changes to train routes, rerouting several services including the prestigious Vande Bharat and Shatabdi for 42 days. This extensive maintenance work will significantly impact travel plans in northern India.

Impact on Key Trains

This major block will affect passengers traveling by New Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express, which now bypasses Kanpur and runs through Moradabad instead. Similarly, the Anand Vihar-Ayodhya Cantt Vande Bharat Express has also experienced rerouting changes.

Multiple mail, express, and superfast trains will see their schedules adjusted or be rescheduled entirely to accommodate the maintenance work on the Kanpur-Kanpur Bridge Left Bank section. The Railways are addressing important safety concerns by replacing steel troughs with H-beam sleepers to enhance track strength.

Wide-Spread Traveller Impact

The rerouting will mean that travelers from Delhi, Jhansi, Rae Bareli, and beyond will face altered routes and potential schedule disruptions. Long-distance passengers en route to eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the Northeast will also need to plan accordingly.

Railway officials advise passengers to verify their train schedules before embarking on journeys, as changes are inevitable during this period of disruption.
