The Telangana Waqf Tribunal has officially announced an extension for the deadline regarding the submission of data for various Waqf properties. All concerned stakeholders and institutions now have until July 2, 2026, to complete the necessary data uploads on the dedicated UMEED portal. This extension aligns with the regulatory framework established under the Act, which officially came into force on July 3, 2025.
The Waqf Board has publicly expressed its approval of this extension, emphasizing that it serves as a crucial relief measure for the various institutions and stakeholders involved. The additional time is intended to facilitate the comprehensive registration and digitization process required for these assets, ensuring that administrative tasks are completed with accuracy and diligence.
Progress in Waqf Property Digitization
Providing an update on the current status of the initiative, officials reported that significant headway has been made. Data pertaining to 63,939 Waqf properties has been successfully uploaded to the system to date. Of this total figure, 54,550 entries have already received official approval, which includes 33,929 distinct institutions identified during the initial survey phase.
Azmatullah Husseini, the Chairman of the Waqf Board, highlighted that the current approval figures are a testament to the ongoing efforts toward the successful digitization and formal registration of these valuable assets. He stressed that the board remains firmly committed to utilizing this extended timeframe effectively, ensuring that the remaining institutions complete their registration and receive the necessary approvals.
Guidelines for Stakeholders and Mutawallis
In response to the extension, authorities have issued a formal advisory to all mutawallis, managing committees, and associated stakeholders. They are strongly urged to proactively verify the current status of their uploaded property information on the UMEED portal. In instances where an application has been rejected, stakeholders are advised to promptly address the specific remarks provided by the approving authorities and subsequently re-upload the necessary documentation within the revised timeline.
To ensure systemic alignment, a copy of the recent tribunal order has been officially forwarded to the Union Minority Affairs Ministry. The ministry has been requested to facilitate the reopening of the process, which will enable the Telangana Waqf Board and all relevant stakeholders to finalize the registration of all remaining assets in a structured and transparent manner.
