Supreme Court Declines Urgent Hearing for Ban on Cow Slaughter

New Delhi: In a recent development, the Supreme Court of India has turned down an urgent hearing request for a petition seeking the complete ban on cow slaughter. Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha presented the matter before Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, urging them to expedite action in light of upcoming Bakrid, a significant festival.

Advocate Sinha emphasized that failure to address this issue promptly could result in potential contraventions of existing anti-cow slaughter laws. The plea, filed by Satish Kumar Aggarwal, former vice-president of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, seeks directions for effective implementation of these laws and demands guidelines from state governments on how these laws should be enforced.
