The Srikakulam region is experiencing a significant surge in infrastructure and socio-economic progress under the current NDA government, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. During the district-level “Two Years of Trust – Development and Welfare” event held at the NTR Municipal High School grounds, the minister highlighted key strategic projects currently underway.

Accelerating Infrastructure and Development in Srikakulam

A primary focus of the administration’s development agenda is the ongoing construction of the Mulapeta International Port, which is moving forward at an impressive pace. Officials, including Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, noted that roughly 75 per cent of the infrastructure work at the port site is already complete. Furthermore, the government is actively finalizing plans to establish a new airport in the Palasa region, aiming to boost regional connectivity and industrial growth.

Addressing the gathering, Rammohan Naidu emphasized the government's steadfast commitment to irrigation and transport. He noted that the coalition is prioritizing the completion of major water projects, specifically the Vamsadhara, Nagavali, Bahuda, and Mahendratanaya initiatives. Additionally, he hailed the sanctioning of 54 railway over-bridges as a historic milestone for the district, representing an investment of ₹3,300 crore.

These infrastructure improvements are part of a broader strategy to transform Andhra Pradesh into a premier investment hub. The state has successfully captured nearly 25 per cent of total national investments, a trend expected to create substantial employment for local youth. The minister noted that the government has successfully implemented its key “Super Six” electoral promises within two years of taking office, demonstrating a clear focus on fulfilling its commitments in a phased manner.

Empowering Citizens Through Targeted Welfare and Skill Training

Beyond physical infrastructure, the event highlighted the tangible impact of various welfare and skill-building programs. State-led initiatives such as Stree Shakti, Annadata Sukhibhava, Thalliki Vandanam, and Deepam 2.0 have facilitated direct financial support to numerous beneficiaries, ensuring aid reaches those who need it most. Several individuals who have benefited from the government's specialized skill development initiatives shared their success stories at the meeting. They explained how targeted training programs, including advanced foreign language courses, have been instrumental in helping them secure high-quality job opportunities with major multinational organizations.

The public meeting saw participation from several key political figures, including MLAs Gondu Shankar, Mamidi Govindarao, Nadukuditi Eswara Rao, and Baggu Ramanamurthy, along with government whip Bendalam Ashok and Vizianagaram MP Kalishetti Appala Naidu. Their presence underscored a unified effort toward sustainable Srikakulam development, positioning the district as a vital contributor to the overall progress of the state and the country.
