Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to undertake a significant visit to the native village of President Droupadi Murmu, located in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. This upcoming journey serves as a platform for the launch of extensive developmental projects, with a total valuation exceeding Rs 47,600 crore, aimed at bolstering infrastructure and public services across the state.
In a gesture symbolizing unity and inclusive growth, both the President and the Prime Minister are scheduled to make a joint appearance in Pahadpur, the in-laws' village of President Murmu. Before this, the President will be involved in several engagements in Rairangpur, including the inauguration of an AIIMS health camp and the virtual launch of a drinking water supply initiative benefiting 113 mining-affected villages, alongside the dedication of Matrushakti Bhavan at Hatbadra.
Infrastructure Boost and Developmental Projects
Following their visit to Pahadpur, where the leaders will offer prayers at local tribal sites and visit the SLS Memorial Residential School and Skill Development Centre, they will proceed to Rairangpur. There, they will attend a state-level event marking the second anniversary of the government led by Mohan Charan Majhi. This program, themed “Bikashara Dhara, Odisha Sara”, will be the venue for the official launch, dedication, and foundation stone ceremonies for a diverse range of development projects spanning sectors such as energy, industrial growth, road connectivity, healthcare, and irrigation.
Among the major infrastructure endeavors receiving attention are the 600-MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project and the expansion of the Ib Thermal Power Station. Additionally, the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) project in Jharsuguda is slated for commencement. The Prime Minister will also lay foundation stones for a compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, a new bridge over the Kathajodi river connecting the capital to Cuttack, and various road upgrades in Boudh and Nuapada districts.
Inaugurations scheduled for the day include a 300-bed hospital in Boudh, 24 Atal Bus Stands, and nine Automated Testing Stations across the state. This visit highlights a concerted focus from the central administration on tribal empowerment, rural educational advancement, and skill development in regions that have historically been identified as aspirational. By concentrating on these critical areas, the government aims to catalyze long-term growth and modernize the state's industrial and social infrastructure.
