New Delhi: In a historic turn of events, senior BJP leader Samrat Choudhary is poised to assume the role of Bihar's next Chief Minister. This marks the first time in Bihar's legislative history that a leader from the BJP's quota will occupy the Chief Minister's chair. Nitish Kumar, who had been serving as CM since 2005 and previously took a brief leave from his post, officially submitted his resignation during a visit to Raj Bhavan earlier this week.
Samrat Choudhary's Path to Power
The journey to the Chief Minister's chair began with Samrat Choudhary's unanimous election as the leader of the legislative party on Tuesday. His appointment was a consequence of Nitish Kumar's decision to resign, following the BJP-led NDA government's victory in recent elections. The new leadership transition underscores a significant shift in Bihar politics.
On Wednesday, Samrat Choudhary will officially take office by swearing in as Chief Minister at 11:00 AM local time. Accompanying him will be other members of the newly formed cabinet who are also scheduled to swear in alongside him during this historical moment for Bihar's governance.
During his election, Nitish Kumar extended warm welcomes and expressed hope that his guidance would continue to influence Bihari development under Samrat Choudhary. An emotional address followed his resignation as he highlighted his journey, notably thanking the people of Bihar and Narendra Modi's leadership for their support.
