Rajasthan Man Allegedly Killed by Son in Brutal Land Dispute Incident

A tragic land dispute in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district has ended in the brutal death of a 65-year-old man, allegedly at the hands of his own son. The incident, which has shocked the local community, highlights the extreme consequences that can arise from long-standing familial conflicts over property.

According to reports from Mehada police, the confrontation occurred late on Thursday evening in Dhosi village. The victim, identified as Mahavir Prasad, was reportedly alone at his residence when the violence began. His wife had been away visiting other family members at the time of the fatal encounter.

Authorities stated that Shamsher Singh, the 38-year-old son of the deceased, arrived at the scene and began to assault his father. Witnesses and a formal complaint filed by the victim's son-in-law, Rakesh Kumar, indicated that the altercation escalated rapidly. Despite efforts by bystanders to intervene and stop the aggression, the accused allegedly dragged his father out onto the road.

In a horrific turn of events, Shamsher Singh then reportedly used a tractor to run over his father. The severity of the attack left Mahavir Prasad critically injured. He was immediately rushed to the government sub-district hospital in Khetri; however, medical professionals were unable to save him and declared him dead upon arrival.

Following the incident, local law enforcement arrived at the location to secure the scene and initiate a preliminary investigation. The accused was taken into police custody, and a formal murder case has been registered. Officials noted that this violent act was the culmination of a land dispute that had persisted for approximately three years. Attempts by other relatives to mediate the conflict had reportedly failed, leading to the accused residing separately from his father.

The deceased, who had been actively working in farming, is survived by his wife, four daughters, and the accused son. A medical board at the hospital performed a post-mortem examination, and the mortal remains have since been released to the family for final rites.
