In a disturbing security breach, a group of five criminals launched a calculated heist on the Bengaluru–Kacheguda Express during the early hours of Tuesday. This brazen robbery occurred near the Turakapalli railway station, located within the Gooty mandal of Anantapur district, leaving passengers terrified and questioning the safety of long-distance rail travel.
The perpetrators, who are suspected of belonging to a gang from northern states, executed their plan by tampering with railway signal infrastructure. By disabling the signals near Turakapalli, they forced the train to come to an unscheduled and abrupt halt in a desolate area. Once the train stopped, the group boarded the reservation carriages—specifically targeting coaches S2, S4, and S7—while most commuters were fast asleep.
