A disturbing train robbery incident has been reported in the early hours of Monday, as six unidentified suspects targeted the Circar Express. Authorities have launched an intensive investigation into the crime, which resulted in passengers losing their valuables while travelling between Nellore and Bapatla district.

According to official reports from the Government Railway Police (GRP), the incident unfolded around 1:00 AM. The perpetrators, who are believed to have boarded the train at Nellore, executed a calculated move by pulling the emergency alarm chain near Appikatla. This forced the Chengalpattu–Kakinada Port Circar Express to come to a sudden halt, allowing the group to infiltrate the S-3 and S-6 coaches.

Details of the Targeted Train Robbery

During the chaos, the suspects successfully snatched gold chains from two passengers. When victims raised an alarm to alert those nearby, an onboard escort constable immediately intervened, using a whistle and torchlight to confront the group. The train robbery attempt escalated as the suspects retaliated by hurling stones at both the official and the train carriages before attempting to escape into the dark, rural landscape.

In a swift reaction to the crisis, GRP personnel were dispatched to the scene, arriving within minutes of the alarm. A pursuit ensued, during which a constable was forced to discharge 10 rounds from his SLR rifle as the suspects fled the area. Despite the intensity of the confrontation, the railway officials successfully managed the situation on the ground to ensure no further harm came to the remaining passengers.

Investigation and Ongoing Search Operations

Following the event, a coordinated search operation was initiated by members of the GRP, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local Andhra Pradesh police units. The collaborative effort aimed to secure the area and track the whereabouts of the six identified suspects. As a direct result of these efforts, authorities have confirmed that one suspect has been taken into custody for questioning.

A formal case has been registered against the six accused individuals. Law enforcement agencies are currently reviewing evidence and interrogating the detained suspect to understand the full scope of the incident. Further investigation remains underway as police work to apprehend the remaining five members of the group involved in this brazen act. The safety of rail passengers remains a top priority for local security forces, who are now reviewing security protocols following this alarming train robbery.
