A daring robbery attempt on the Circar Express was successfully thwarted early Monday morning, preventing what could have been a serious criminal incident for passengers traveling through Andhra Pradesh. The confrontation took place between the Appikatla and Bapatla railway stations within the Bapatla district, as the train was en route on its Chengalpattu–Kakinada journey.

According to Indian Railway Protection Force (RPF) official DSC Akkeswara Rao, the suspects gained unauthorized access to the train at approximately 1:00 AM, specifically targeting the vicinity of the Nallamada Vagu railway bridge. The perpetrators aimed to steal gold ornaments and personal valuables from female passengers who were sleeping in coaches 3 and 6.

Swift Response by Railway Authorities Foils Crime

The situation escalated quickly when the victims discovered the intrusion and raised a loud commotion. The alert response of the passengers, combined with the activation of the emergency chain, brought the train to a sudden stop. Faced with this immediate pressure, the suspects jumped off the moving train and attempted to escape into the nearby darkness of the surrounding fields.

In a direct attempt to apprehend the suspects, railway security personnel fired nine rounds. While the perpetrators managed to evade capture and fled toward the Bapatla-Guntur road, they were forced to abandon two bags containing their belongings, which were later recovered by law enforcement. Fortunately, no passengers reported any injuries during the struggle, although many remained visibly shaken by the dangerous robbery attempt on the Circar Express.

Following the incident, local and railway police have mobilized to bring those responsible to justice. Bapatla District SP Uma Maheswara Rao has coordinated a massive, multi-team manhunt currently underway across the Appikatla and Bathipudi regions. Five dedicated special teams are working around the clock to analyze CCTV footage, document passenger testimonials, and track the suspects through the rural terrain.

Authorities remain committed to ensuring passenger safety and are conducting a thorough investigation into the security breach. The recovery of the suspects' bags is expected to provide critical leads as investigators continue to comb the area for further evidence regarding this unsettling robbery attempt on the Circar Express.
