Odisha Government Hikes Advocates' Welfare Fund Assistance by 40 Percent

The Odisha state government has officially sanctioned a significant 40 percent enhancement in the financial aid provided under the State Advocates' Welfare Fund. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi formally approved this upward revision, which aims to bolster support systems for lawyers upon their retirement. Revised Financial Assistance Structure

Under the newly established framework, the next of kin of an advocate who has served for up to five years will receive Rs 1.05 lakh in the event of the advocate's death. As the years of practice increase, the quantum of financial aid also scales proportionately.

For senior legal professionals who have reached a significant milestone of 30 years of practice, the benefit reaches its maximum limit. These individuals are now entitled to receive Rs 6.30 lakh upon retirement. In cases of death, this same maximum amount of Rs 6.30 lakh will be disbursed to the advocate's designated family member. This adjustment is part of a deliberate push to ensure that the State Advocates' Welfare Fund remains a robust tool for professional and family security.
