As temperatures have dipped across most parts of North India, a fresh monsoon alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). People in regions including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar are advised to prepare for potential heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
Heavy Rainfall Alert
The IMD predicts a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours across 13 states on April 9th. This includes regions such as Banda, Fatehpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Raebareli, Amethi, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, areas like Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Bulandshahr are under a heavy rainfall alert. Weather conditions worsening with hailstorms expected in Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, and their surrounding regions.
In Bihar, warnings for thunderstorms and rain have been issued for Darbhanga, Madhubani, Araria, Samastipur, Vaishali, Siwan, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, and Kishanganj. Hailstorm alerts are also in place for some areas.
The weather update from the IMD suggests that Himachal Pradesh is expecting a 'Yellow Alert' with rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in districts like Shimla, Kangra, Kasauli, and Kufri. Uttarakhand may see snowfall with heavy rain and snow in some mountainous regions.
Across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, scattered rainfall is anticipated, further intensifying the weather concerns for these states.
