Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the head of the Telangana Rakshana Samiti (TRS), recently voiced significant concerns regarding the mining sector in Telangana. During a public appearance in Mancherial on Monday, she emphasized the urgent need for new underground mines to complement existing opencast projects. According to her, this strategic expansion is essential to foster job creation and improve economic conditions for workers in the region.

Push for Singareni Collieries Coal Block Allocation

A primary focus of her address was the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). Kavitha formally urged Union Minister for Mines G. Kishan Reddy to expedite the allocation of a new coal block to the SCCL. She argued that despite the formation of the state, the lives and working conditions of the employees at Singareni have yet to experience meaningful transformation, necessitating targeted government intervention.

The call for expanded mining operations through coal block allocation reflects a broader political effort to address regional economic development. Kavitha noted that her party is committed to advocating for these industrial changes to ensure that natural resources contribute directly to the prosperity of local communities and provide stable employment opportunities for the workforce.

In addition to her economic demands, Kavitha used the visit to honor local history by paying tributes at the Indravelli martyrs memorial. She stated that the party continues to draw significant inspiration from these martyrs, using their sacrifice as a catalyst to fight for the rights of the people of Telangana.

Looking ahead, she announced a new organizational initiative aimed at social inclusivity. The party plans to establish a specialized wing dedicated to Adivasis. This new internal body is specifically designed to identify and address the unique socio-economic challenges faced by tribal communities across the state, ensuring their voices are represented more effectively in regional political discourse.

By focusing on both industrial reform through coal block allocation and social welfare for marginalized groups, the leadership aims to strengthen its grassroots influence. The demand for new mining infrastructure is seen as a pivotal step in achieving sustainable growth and regional stability.
