The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) recently organized a transparent open house event to provide detailed insights into its coal extraction and management systems. This initiative was specifically launched to address and dismiss growing concerns regarding potential irregularities and the alleged diversion of coal reserves, which had been raised by local political figures, including representatives from the BRS party.
Advanced Monitoring and Anti-Coal Theft Measures
During the session, SCCL management emphasized the robust technological framework currently governing their daily operations. To ensure complete accountability, the company utilizes sophisticated GPS-based geo-tagging systems to track the entire lifecycle of coal production, from extraction at the pit head to final delivery at designated destinations. These mechanisms have been operational since 2015, ensuring that every movement of the commodity is documented, supervised, and transparent.
Furthermore, SCCL officials highlighted that all logistical processes, including the loading, unloading, and transportation of coal, are managed through integrated SAP platforms. This digital approach is designed to eliminate manual intervention and minimize the possibility of pilferage or unauthorized diversion. The company also confirmed that a dedicated Anti-Coal Theft Squad remains active across their facilities to enforce operational security. Additionally, the management has implemented updated software protocols to safeguard their financial and operational transactions against the risks of cyber fraud.
Government Commitment to Operational Transparency
The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, who both reiterated the state government's firm commitment to the integrity of this public asset. Bhatti Vikramarka stressed that the open house was intended to present verified facts and maintain public trust in SCCL operations. He urged political opposition leaders, such as T. Harish Rao, to refrain from politicizing matters concerning a public sector organization that serves as a cornerstone of workers' dignity and livelihood.
Minister D. Sridhar Babu reinforced these sentiments, stating clearly that there is no scope for coal theft within the current monitoring framework. The government officials expressed that any unsubstantiated allegations against SCCL ultimately undermine the hard work of its dedicated workforce. As part of their official visit, the ministers also inspected the Srirampur OCP extension, accompanied by Mancherial MLA Premsagar Rao and SCCL CMD Dr. Jyoti Buddha Prakash, further demonstrating the government's proactive role in overseeing these critical industrial assets.
