HYDERABAD: Authorities made a significant seizure of alprazolam and other substances during an operation to combat the illegal preparation and sale of adulterated toddy. The raid, which took place on Thursday at Nandigama in Shadnagar, resulted in the apprehension of Aggi Ashok Goud, who was accused of procuring these materials from Raichur for local distribution.

The operation, conducted by Excise STF B team and led by Pradeep Rao in collaboration with CI Biksha Reddy and SI Balaraju, involved a thorough inspection at the suspect's residence. Five packets containing 18.37 grams of alprazolam and 37.32 grams of white powder were confiscated during the raid.

Risks Associated With Alprazolam in Toddy

Alprazolam, a controlled substance often misused for inducing intoxication, has been found to pose significant health risks when used improperly. The authorities have emphasized that this seizure is not only about disrupting illegal activities but also ensuring public safety by removing potentially harmful substances from circulation.

The accused was subsequently handed over to the Shadnagar excise police station for further investigation and legal action, highlighting the commitment of law enforcement to upholding local laws and regulations.
