BJP Denies Allegations Regarding Lack of Central Support to Telangana

Highlights

  • BJP leader Boora Narsaiah Goud rejected Congress government claims regarding lack of central support.
  • The BJP asserted that the state receives three times the amount of its tax contribution in central aid.
  • Funding for national highway expansion and agriculture was highlighted as proof of central commitment.
  • The BJP alleged that the state government is using the controversy to cover up its own developmental failures.

A recent political dispute has emerged regarding Central support to Telangana, with the BJP formally refuting accusations leveled by the state administration. The Congress-led government in the region has frequently alleged that the central authorities are not cooperating sufficiently to foster state development, a claim that the BJP has categorically dismissed as unfounded.

Dismissing Allegations of Non-Cooperation

During a media address held in Bhongir, BJP state vice-president Boora Narsaiah Goud characterized these accusations as a strategic diversion. He argued that the local government is attempting to mask its own administrative shortcomings and inability to drive developmental projects by shifting the narrative toward a purported lack of support from the national capital. According to Goud, there is no factual basis for the claims suggesting a lack of Central support to Telangana.

To support his argument, the BJP leader highlighted substantial financial contributions flowing from the center to the state. He noted that the national government collects approximately 55,000 crore in tax revenue from Telangana. In return, the center provides the state with funds amounting to three times that figure through various developmental schemes and financial assistance programs. This, he argued, demonstrates a robust commitment from the national authorities toward the progress of the state.

Focus on Infrastructure and Growth

Further emphasizing the extent of assistance, Boora Narsaiah Goud pointed to significant budgetary allocations specifically directed toward the expansion of national highways and the revitalization of the agricultural sector. These initiatives are critical for the economic prosperity of the region and rely heavily on sustained coordination between the state and central machinery.

As evidence, the leader referenced statements previously made by the state’s own minister for roads and buildings, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. He indicated that the minister had previously acknowledged the receipt of significant funds originating from the national government for the purpose of road development. The BJP maintains that such evidence contradicts the current stance taken by the ruling party, reinforcing their view that Central support to Telangana remains consistent and proactive. By highlighting these figures and ministerial admissions, the BJP is signaling that the current political discourse around state-center relations does not reflect the reality of the ongoing financial collaboration and infrastructure investments being funneled into the region to promote long-term growth.
