The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially activated its Shakti Kendras to streamline the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. Originally established to bolster the party's presence at the booth level, these units are now playing a critical role in verifying and monitoring voter data across Adilabad.
Strategic Voter Roll Monitoring
The Shakti Kendras are currently tasked with scrutinizing electoral rolls to ensure accuracy, a process that has become increasingly complex for migrant voters. By working closely with booth-level committees, these party units aim to identify and address any irregularities in voter registration. This initiative is particularly focused on maintaining the integrity of the process as per the 2002 electoral lists, often requiring voters to provide formal documentation to confirm their registration status.
In response to these developments, other major political entities, including the Congress and the BRS, have also mobilized their own booth-level agents (BLAs) to safeguard their voter bases. While the district administration manages official booth-level officers (BLOs), the active involvement of party-appointed agents highlights the intensity of the current electoral preparation. The Congress, in particular, has initiated training programs for its agents across various Assembly constituencies to navigate the technicalities of the SIR process effectively.
Organizational Strengthening and Outreach
The structural expansion of the BJP in the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency is significant, with more than 608 Shakti Kendras now operational. Each Kendra is responsible for overseeing approximately four to five polling booths. To ensure efficiency, the party has appointed specialized conveners and Vistaraks, often with support from the RSS, to supervise the booth committees and ensure all party information remains accurate.
This mobilization is part of a broader effort, such as the Mahajan Sampark Abhiyan, which focuses on grassroots engagement. Booth committee members are tasked with visiting 20 families in their respective areas to explain party platforms and encourage local participation. The importance of this effort is underscored by recent data from the Adilabad Assembly Constituency, where over 95,000 electors remain unmapped, and thousands more have been flagged with potential data anomalies.
Local political leaders emphasize that this period of intensive revision is a vital time for voters to verify their details. As the Election Commission of India continues the audit of the electoral rolls, the active monitoring by these political groups ensures that the final list remains as comprehensive and accurate as possible for upcoming electoral requirements.
