Anganwadi Centers Provide Strong Foundation for Children's Future, Says Minister Seethakka
Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka is championing the transformation of Anganwadi centers into primary education hubs. Through improved nutrition, specialized teacher training, and better infrastructure, the government aims to provide a high-quality foundation for 9 lakh children across the state.

The state government is placing a renewed emphasis on Anganwadi centers as vital pillars for early childhood development, positioning them as foundational institutions for children's future education. Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, the Minister for Women and Child Welfare, recently underscored this commitment while attending the Amma Maata – Anganwadi Baata program at the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Anganwadi Center in Golconda.
Strengthening Early Education and Nutrition
During the event, which was attended by Nampally MLA Majid Hussain, the Minister participated in initiatives designed to improve child enrollment and engagement. These activities included the distribution of uniforms to pre-schoolers and the awarding of Vidyarambham certificates to students transitioning to primary education. By personally joining the children in alphabet learning exercises and reviewing the teaching materials provided, Dr. Seethakka highlighted the government’s comprehensive approach to early childhood care.
The Anganwadi centers are currently undergoing a transformation, evolving beyond simple nutrition hubs into the primary schools that shape a child's early cognitive and physical development. The state currently supports 38,000 such centers, serving approximately 9 lakh children. To further enhance this infrastructure, the government has introduced 57 varieties of educational and play-based tools specifically aimed at fostering brain development and learning capabilities among toddlers.
Minister Seethakka emphasized that the government is dedicated to providing high-quality services, noting that Anganwadi teachers have received specialized training in English to better support their young pupils. Furthermore, the environment of these centers is being actively improved through creative, attractive wall paintings and structured learning activities. The Minister also addressed staff needs by approving a 45-day leave policy, demonstrating a holistic effort to support both the educators and the students within the Anganwadi centers system.
Expanding Nutritional Support Initiatives
Nutritional welfare remains a core component of this strategy. A pilot project for a breakfast scheme, previously launched in the Bhadradri Kothagudem and Adilabad districts, has yielded positive results and is now slated for a statewide rollout. Children are provided with balanced, nutritious meals including items like khichdi and egg biryani.
Highlighting the shift in policy, the Minister pointed out that while uniforms were not historically provided at these centers, the current administration now supplies two pairs to every enrolled child. Dr. Seethakka encouraged parents to utilize these public facilities, asserting that they offer an environment fully capable of providing a robust foundation for quality education without the financial burden often associated with private institutions. The Amma Maata – Anganwadi Baata initiative serves as a bridge, aiming to integrate these essential services into the lives of every family across the state.
