Tokai, renowned for its unwavering prowess on Indian roads, has taken a significant leap into the electric world with the launch of its first fully electric SUV, the Urban Cruiser Ebella. This vehicle is designed to captivate users with zero-emission driving while offering Toyota's trademark reliability and robust performance. The Ebella promises an impressive range of 543 kilometers, providing drivers with minimal range anxiety even on long-distance journeys.
Design and Aesthetics
The Tokai Urban Cruiser Ebella features a striking design that sets it apart from other electric vehicles. Compliant with Toyota's global 'Hammerhead' design philosophy, the vehicle presents sharp LED projector headlights and pixel-style LED day-time running lights (DRLs). This premium look continues on the side profile through muscular lines and 18-inch alloy wheels, giving the car an imposing presence. The rear incorporates a panoply of LED taillights, nestled within a black strip, and a wide bumper that significantly adds to its rugged appeal.

The Ebella is equipped with two battery options to suit various needs. A 49 kWh version provides 144 hp, delivering a range of around 440 kilometers per charge. For longer drives, the 61 kWh variant offers more power (about 174 hp) and extends its range up to 543 kilometers as certified by ARAI. Both battery types support fast charging at 70 kW, allowing for rapid recharging from 10% to 80% in just 45 minutes.
Toyota's commitment to safety is reflected in the Ebella with seven airbags included across models. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 2 technology, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring, are available on the top-spec variant. Additional features like ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), electronic stability control, and rear cross-traffic alert ensure comprehensive protection.
The Ebella is expected to be priced competitively at around ₹18 lakh for the basevariant (49 kWh). The mid-spec model, priced between ₹19.5 and ₹20.5 lakh, and the top-of-the-line variant will retail within ₹21 to ₹23 lakh by April 2026.
