Strategic Initiatives
The minister convened a meeting with district collectors and officials at a time when procurement operations are ongoing across the state. He instructed them to address any bottlenecks swiftly, especially in districts like Nizamabad, Nirmal, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, and Vikarabad, where paddy arrivals are expected to continue for another ten days.
Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized the need to expedite operations and ensure that farmers do not face undue disruptions due to weather conditions. With monsoon imminent, the pressure on storage infrastructure is rising, hence additional space was identified in districts facing shortages. The minister also reviewed transportation and storage mechanisms for Custom Milled Rice (CMR) and directed officials to ramp up these operations seamlessly, thereby ensuring a smooth supply of fresh produce. Addressing the welfare of farm support staff too, he urged improvements in insurance coverage and social security benefits.
