VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has made a significant move by releasing ₹17.58 crore as the second installment of compensation to affected farmers, bringing the total paid under this expansion project to ₹28.12 crore. This substantial allocation comes following the successful acquisition of lands in Enamadala, Prattipadu, Garapadu, Kondepadu, Mallayapalem, GG Palem, and Ravipadu for the modernization and extension of the Guntur Channel.
According to Minister for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, these funds have been directly deposited into farmers' bank accounts. This timely disbursement is seen as a crucial step towards resolving longstanding land acquisition issues and fostering improved agricultural infrastructure in the region.
Focused on Modernization and Farmer Benefits
The Guntur Channel modernisation project, which has taken several years to come to fruition, will provide essential irrigation support to farmers. With central coordination and funding, this project is expected to have a positive impact by ensuring steady water supply across critical cultivation seasons.
Minister Chandrasekhar highlighted that the ongoing process faced numerous challenges but was met with proactive measures from various administrative levels. He emphasized the necessity of smooth communication with farmers throughout the extension works and noted that this approach has helped in accelerating implementation without major hiccups.
